I like it here, life’s a bit more straight-forward again, for now… 😀 One of the long-term hostel stayers gave me her library card and showed me a library with loads of manga in English! Funnily enough there were a lot of books by the authors presented in Manben and a wide collection of Osamu Tezuka’s work too, plenty to keep me entertained! Just like before Covid.īut then, last week I got coronavirus, and it’s basically like a normal flu! So now I’m in Sweden whilst the UK is in lockdown, no need to wear masks here, it’s lovely. Great way to meet people, there’s usually always someone to talk to.Ī day before the 2nd lockdown was announced in the UK I flew to Sweden based on a tip from a new friend, super lucky! If you’re in a similar situation I can’t recommend hostels enough. In time I became more confident talking to strangers and met many interesting characters. I set a goal to speak to a new person each day. I moved around a lot, stayed at Airbnb’s, hotels and hostels. I didn’t have many local friends nor family to lean on. Since then my life then took a bit of a downward spiral. Sadly I had to leave our pup with her too, if I’d have taken him with me she would never leave me alone. It was a bit of a rollercoaster of a relationship, and I couldn’t heal from cancer whilst being with her. So what’s been going on since JUL 2020 update? If you understand Japanese well, and can translate it accurately and want to help with the last few episodes, please do get in touch! ( )

Good to watch if you’ve seen the full episode and want a refresher or a quick boost in motivation before you get to creating art.įinding a translator who isn’t too expensive and can translate effectively is very hard.įor S3E4 I’ve had to essentially translate the translation into native English and go through each line with care to make sure it represents what is being said accurately whilst still being readable and sounding natural. 15 minute long versions of the episodes highlighting the best bits of advice. I’ve heard from many people who absolutely love this series and are inspired to create art because of it, these translations, and it is a massive tragedy that NHK aren’t sharing it as much as they should (in fact they are suppressing it!) This project is not about money, it’s slightly selfish because I want to see this series before I die, but I also want to share it with other artists. Something to consider, it’s easy to consider actually but when it runs through your mind on a daily basis, every time you pop the pill that’s keeping you alive, reminding you you should be dead or dying right about now, life really begins to happen for you and you start making changes. Or do you want to turn things around and make your life the story you know you want told? You want to be flattened by debt and spending hours upon hours consuming media? You might die or lose your health in the next few years, how do you want to spend that time?

Having cancer, has actually been a blessing, it puts life in perspective.

Now I’m living by the sea, I have a partner and beautiful pup, making quite a lot of money and helping a lot of people whilst having plenty of free time and resources to do things like this. I was living in a van last year to save money so I could get out of credit card debt, after 6 months of that my online business took off. I am still battling cancer, I have a 13 inch scar going around my neck from 2 surgeries.

I apologise for the delay, there’s no excuse really, but an update on my personal life: I’ve just spent a whole week editing the Naoki Urasawa Manben Episode with English Subtitles. If anyone has any good suggestions for where to upload the videos let me know. So now I have a new lease of life and want to continue with this. However I’ve received lots of positive emails from people requesting more episodes and showing appreciation for the project.
